ZOMAR-DAVIS, Katie Rose

July 18, 1999 – February 9, 2022

It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of Katie Rose Zomar-Davis on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, in Cochrane, Alberta, at the age of 22. The Heavens have gained the most precious angel. Katie was born in Calgary, Alberta and grew up in the Cochrane and Cremona area.

Katie had an immeasurable amount of courage, strength, and wisdom. She had an amazing sense of humour and quick wit; along with an enviable sense of style that she proudly displayed in everything that she did. To put it lightly, Katie was an exceptional and inspiring young lady.  She cared deeply for all and advocated fiercely for others in similar to her own circumstances who faced any type of difficulties. Despite a 6-year cancer battle and many hardships of her own, you could always count on Katie to share her brilliant smile, along with her infectious laugh that touched your soul. Katie made a lasting impression on every person she came into contact with. No matter what life threw at her she put her best foot forward, usually in a fashionable pair of boots. Katie had an unmatched spirit that will shine on forever. Katie’s passing will leave a canyon sized void in the lives of her family and loved ones that can never be filled.

Katie is survived by her mother and step-father, Heather (Dean Griffin) Zomar; brother, Marcus Zomar-Davis, and sister, Holly Zomar-Davis; boyfriend, Austin Fisher; grandfather, Joseph (Diane) Zomar; grandmother, Susan (Warren Mayden); Zomar grandparents, Clarence and Joan Longeway; grandparents, Edward and Ann Davis; aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. Katie was predeceased by her father, Edward Corey Davis.

A Funeral Service will take place at Bow Valley Baptist Church (54 W Aarsby Rd, Cochrane, AB) on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Katie’s favourite foundation, Helping Families Handle Cancer (PO BOX 91052, 125, 8888 Country Hills Blvd NW, Calgary, AB T3G 5T0) www.helpingfamilieshandlecancer.com/donate

Love to all of you! Katie really was a special soul, always looking for ways to make others happy. She stood up to bullies, she always had the biggest smile. Your family is incredible, you have weathered far too many storms and I wish you all the best from this moment forward. When you are ready, you have an open invitation to come visit me here in Belize. Heal with the sun and sea while remembering Katie together. Love you,

I have to say this young lady made a big difference in our lives. She always had a smile and a very quick wit when I teased her but that smile was infectious. I have never seen young lady care about those around her as much as she did well with the exception of her sister Holly the Zomar-Davis family was a true gem and at the top of the crown was Katie. The Darr family will miss her greatly in fact our thoughts have been about her in the past year. No matter who you talked to Katie to those that knew her she was the crown jewel.
