BOTIN, Wolf
SEPTEMBER 21, 1950 – MAY 23, 2021
Sunday evening, May 23, 2021, Wolf took his last breath and moved on the be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Carolyn and his girls, Krissi and Annette, were there to say good-bye. He had spent 5 weeks in the ICU, 4 of them on a ventilator.
Wolf’s family immigrated to Canada from Germany when he was 2 years old, settling in Northern BC in the town of Terrace. His playground was the Coastal Mountains, the natural hot springs and the mighty Skeena River.
In 1969 Wolf joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served for 25 years. His first posting took him to CFB Greenwood, NS, where he met Carolyn Demmons who would become his wife. Subsequent postings took the family to Cold Lake AB, Summerside PEI, Edmonton AB, then back to Greenwood. All these moves produced a widening circle of friends and experiences. The second posting to Greenwood really cemented Nova Scotia as Wolf’s home. He was a flight engineer for his last 15 years of service, an interesting trade which took him to 5 continents on training and relief missions.
With the advantage of a government relocation move the decision was made to come to Cochrane in 1997. Life in Cochrane has been busy. Wolf did long haul trucking around the US and Canada for 13 years and he also worked at Big Hill Towing. The girls married great guys who later joined the military and they began their own ventures in Eastern Canada.
Wolf had a lot of interests. He liked to build things. In Greenwood he built our house, plus a motorboat. He loved both pedal biking and motor biking. His Kawasaki Vulcan was primed and ready for a good season on the road with Glen and Wally. Wolf was a good problem solver and fixed most things in the house and on the cars. Besides these abilities Wolf liked music and enjoyed the symphony plus live theatre and could hardly wait for these things to open up. He was looking forward to perhaps another cruise and a little travel.
Wolf loved his family and was excited over each grandchild. He thought they all were perfect. He was a responsible, honest, generous man. He joined Helping Hands here in Cochrane because he wanted to make a difference to others. He has loved and served God from his youth.
Left to mourn Wolf’s passing are Carolyn, his wife of 46 years; his daughters, Kristin (Sean) Wood and Annette (Cameron) Collins; his brother, Dieter Botin; his brother-in-law, Roger Demmons and niece, Susan Demmons. Also, he leaves behind 6 amazing grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Conor and Tyler Wood, and Jace, Jorden and Sadie Collins. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Helene (Schremmer) Botin; Carolyn’s parents, William and Frances (Rowter) Demmons; and sister-in-law Mary McCullough.
Memorial donations may be made to Cochrane Pregnancy Care Centre, www.cochranepreg.com or a charity of your choice.
There will be a live stream of Wolf’s service on Thursday, June 3rd, at 2:00 MDT through this link: https://tv.cochranealliance.com/en/c/wolf-botin-celebration-of-life.3518

Carolyn & families. So sorry for the passing of Wolf. I remember him well from early childhood days to as recent as visiting 3 yrs ago. Always constant gentleness and kind to everyone. Roger & Roseanne Lewis.
Sorry for your loss see u when I get back Jack
My sincere condolences to Carolyn and family. Such a beautiful story of Wolf’s life and great pictures to remember him by. He was such a nice fellow to get to know. He always made himself available to help out at various church functions without being asked. His willingness to engage in conversation with folks and show interest in them was a gift. He will be greatly missed.
Carolyn, Krissi and Annette – our thoughts and prayers are with you here in Fredericton. I did not get to ‘hang’ with Wolf a lot – He was always ‘Mr. Botin’ to me – but I can tell you that I remember him vividly being kind and supportive to me as an awkward teen and young adult. I remember he had a quiet, wise way about him that I admired very much. Still do.
I hope the coming days will be made a bit easier to bear because you’re all together – I was so glad that you girls were able to get out West. I haven’t seen any of you in such a long time – it makes me miss you guys. Lots of folks back here in the Maritimes are thinking of you. Our prayers for blessings of peace and happy memories are for all three of you and your families.
Dear Carolyn and girls,
So sorry for your grief and loss. Surely the Lord will sustain you through these difficult days, and we do have great and precious promises to hold us, Romans 8:28, for instance. Then to think what Wolf is seeing and experiencing serves to make the rest of us homesick. The Lord bless you. Love in Christ.
Carolyn, Kristin & Annette – We are so heartbroken for you all and grieve with you. What a blessing that you could all be together to say your goodbyes and, together with our Lord, hold each other up. To be with God will be amazing, but for now, to be with each other is a beautiful blessing He grants us. Here in Nova Scotia, we are better because He brought all of you into our lives. Peace for you. Love Darren & Jan, Jessie, Glenn, Julie & Gavin
Carolyn, My heart aches for you and your family over the loss of Wolf … A loving and devoted husband, father and Grandfather.. I remember you and Wolf sitting at my kitchen table a year ago when he agreed to help me out and stain my deck. He worked alongside your Grandsons, setting a wonderful example of a man completing a job with diligence. We don’t know our future; yet we know Who is there and Who will hold you in the days ahead.
Keeping you in my Prayers ❤️
Carolyn, Krissi and Annette -my deepest sympathy to each of you as you go through this very sad time. May you find comfort in all the great memories you shared. RIP Wolf. Love from your cousin in Nova Scotia

Miss my brother, Wolf, in this life; but comforted in knowing I’ll be meeting him in eternity with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. His example as a godly family man was a great encouragement. May God bless all who knew him.

Wonderful words about Wolf, in the obituary and in various emails. Wolf lived up to everything said, and more. A verse of a song comes to mind, as comfort to all – I know it is a comfort to me….
O let the Son of God enfold you
With His Spirit and His love
Let Him fill your heart and satisfy your soul
O let Him have the things that hold you
And His Spirit like a dove
Will descend upon your life and make you whole.
I’m just grateful for having known Wolf……….. Carolyn’s cousin, Carl

I met wolf shortly after his first posting in Greenwood ,Nova Scotia
We became great friends and remained so for over 50 years.
So much I can say that has already been said. Knowing him as a young man in the 70’s it is clear he was faithful to the Lord all his life. He became a wonderful role model to myself and no doubt to many others.
Wolf has enriched our lives in so many ways, he will be forever in our hearts.
Sending hugs and condolences & prayers to you, Carolyn & family! Remembering you from church and as our Avon lady.

Thank you,Wolf, for being there for my family and helping the three of us during a time of much need. We spent only a microscopic amount of time with you, however, you made a significant impact with you inspirational strength, generous contribution and gracious heart. How you helped to improve, will sincerely not ever be forgotten!
Thank you to Wolf’s family for sharing his refined gentility with us and supporting his endeavours to help and care for others!

Dear Carolyn, Krissi and Annette, and families,
Charilyn let me know of Wolf’s passing and I just watched the beautiful ‘Celebration of his life’ service. The testimony he lived is such a blessing, and though I did not know him well, I would say his gentle kindness was evident no matter the length of time spent. I still remember the time you, Carolyn and Wolf took to stop and invite me to a restaurant for a meal and visit many years ago…2004 maybe, and for your care with my daughter in crisis. I pray you will continue to trust and rest in the Lord’s care, as you miss your dear husband and father, grandfather. Thank you for sharing the God-honoring tribute of Wolf Botin’s life.
