WISE, Curtis Morgan
July 8, 1991 – July 24, 2022, Calgary, Alberta
Curtis passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the age of 31 years. Curtis will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Rick & Kelly Wise; his sister, Contessa Wise; grandmothers, Doreen Stehr, and Islay Wise; cousins, Coleman, Logan, and Connor Blair, Sari Jory and many other family and friends.
Curtis was born and raised in Calgary where he loved snowboarding and the many family ski trips in the Rockies. His love of skateboarding started early and continued throughout his life. Curtis also played football, golf and enjoyed biking. We are grateful to have travelled as a family to many wonderful destinations throughout the world. Curtis was always interested in the people we met, their cultures and the animals we saw. Kootenay Lake was a place that was special to him, he really enjoyed his summer vacations there. His grandparents’ acreage was a big part of his life where he spent many happy times with his cousins and family simply having fun and being adventurous.
Curtis was so blessed to have Elizabeth in his life with whom he shared much laughter and love. Recently, he started a job with an electrical contracting company of which he was proud. He truly enjoyed both the work and the people he worked with.
We know firsthand the pain of Curtis’s struggle with addiction. Unfortunately, there are many others suffering from addiction as well as their loved ones alongside them. Because of this we speak truthfully to each of you in hopes that increased knowledge and awareness regarding the opiate epidemic could mean the difference between life and death for someone else suffering from this disease.
As an organ donor we would like to acknowledge that Curtis gave the most precious gift anyone could ever give, the gift to save the lives of others. This was his wish and will be his legacy. We are very proud of him.
We would like to thank the first responders who were there for Curtis as well as the staff of the Foothills Hospital ICU for their care and kindness.
A Celebration of Curtis’ life will be held at Lynx Ridge Golf Course (8 Lynx Ridge Blvd, Calgary) on Monday, August 29, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Curtis to Canadian Mental Health Association – Calgary (cmha.calgary.ab.ca/ http://cmha.calgary.ab.ca/) or the Calgary Dream Center (calgarydreamcentre.com/ http://calgarydreamcentre.com/).

It was hard to comprehend when we heard the news about Curtis. I can’t even begin to think what it has been like for you, Kelly and Tess since Curtis’s passing. Words cannot adequately express our sympathy regarding the grief, sadness and emptiness that you and the family have been experiencing. One thing for sure is that Curtis was loved and supported by his family throughout his journey. It is surreal that a young man’s life has been cut short and he will not have the opportunity to enjoy life and be around his family
