WATERHOUSE, Anna Marie

1931 – 2021

Anna Marie Waterhouse, 1931-2021, went to be with her Lord, Jesus on December 20th, 2021. She was reunited with her daughter Cheryl Ann, her parents, Archie & Mary McKee, her sister Shirley, brother Gordon and many friends and family.

She will be sadly missed by her husband of 63 years, Harold T. Waterhouse, her son Tom (Krista) Waterhouse, grandchildren Miranda Henley ( Matthew), Mark and Anthony Waterhouse, Sylvie (Morgan) Whitwell, Josh (Cherryl) Boisse and Aimee Boisse.  She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.

Anna was born in Saskatoon SASK in 1931 and was the 3rd daughter of Archie & Mary McKee. Anna spent many summers at Waskesiu Lake where her parents owned a cabin. This was one of her favourite places giving her many fond memories. Anna received her RN Degree, her dearly loved passion, at St Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. She nursed in Melfort SK, Lethbridge, AB & in Calgary. Anna’s other passion was singing. She was a trained singer and loved performing at church functions, funerals, and weddings,

Anna & Harold met in Lethbridge and were married in Saskatoon in 1957. They then headed off to Calgary and bought their first home on Cheltenham Rd in 1958, where they raised their two children Cheryl & Tom and resided for 50years. During this time Anna took up painting as a hobby and became quite proficient in her craft.

In 2011 they moved to Cochrane residing in Lofts on the Bow and attended St Peter’s Lutheran Church. Anna lived in a few different Care Facilities before her final home at Age Care Midnapore. Every place she lived the staff were amazing and treated her with great dignity and care.

The family would like to thank the staff at  Peter Lougheed Hospital and at AgeCare Skypointe Hospice for their kind treatment and care of Anna in her final days.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in 2022. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Calgary.

To Harold, Tom and the entire Waterhouse Family. John and I extend our sincere condolences and prayers for the loss of Anna. She was such a wonderful lady. Always had a smile on her face. My Dad knew Anna as they were in the same Grade 1 class together and my Mom knew Anna from being across the lane and spending summers at Waskesiu. I am sure they are all sharing stories of those days now that they are together again. God Bless

To Harold, Tom and family, I sorrowfully extend my deep sympathy at your great loss. As you know, my friendship with Anna Marie goes back more than 2 decades and came about because of our mutual love of music. She was immensely pleased when I successfully retrieved from long ago recordings of her singing and restored them to such a remarkable quality that she could hardly believe it. It was then that she shared her singing with many friends, some going as far back to the start of her nursing career. A similar process took place with the restoration of taped communications with the Mckee family. Anne, as most people called her, did have a truly gifted soprano voice. It brought joy and solace to many as her spirit of giving was innate in her nature. I enjoyed her sense of humor and her welcoming nature did put people at ease. Much joy was shared when she and Harold celebrated their 59th anniversary. It was my great privilege to video record for posterity that wonderful event. Anne will surely be greatly missed. I pray she will rest in peace in the arms of the Good Lord.. GIL.
