VanderBaaren, Glenn Wendell
September 16, 1959 – Wadena, SK
May 31, 2022 – Cochrane, AB
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Glenn VanderBaaren, our beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Papa, Uncle, and Nephew, who died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 31, at the age of 62.
Glenn was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. His kind, gentle and loving personality endeared him to many. His family was his first love and Glenn was a man of integrity, compassion, and strong faith; always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to those around him.
Glenn was born in Wadena, Sask., the eldest of 4 brothers who were all close. His family moved many places across the country as his father served as a Pastor in many churches. He met his wife, Fay, while at Vancouver Bible College and they were married in July of 1983. They spent their first 2 years in Weyburn, Sask. and transferred for work with Shell to Cochrane in 1985. Two wonderful daughters were born to them in 1986 and 1989 and he was blessed with an adorable granddaughter in 2019, who was the joy of his heart.
Being a resident of Cochrane since 1985, he was well known by many in various circles.
He loved music, books, building model cars, photography, and art. He also enjoyed motorcycle trips with his buddies, spending time with family and friends, driving around the country, and working on projects in his garage.
Glenn will be dearly missed by his wife, Fay; daughters Krista VanderBaaren, Sara (Bradley) Salvador and granddaughter Isla; his parents Edward and Darlene VanderBaaren; his brothers Garry, Darrell (Joanne), Robert (Shelley); and numerous Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
As heavy as our hearts may be right now, we look forward to celebrating with him again, at home in Heaven.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Glenn’s honor on June 10, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Cochrane Alliance Church (902 Glenbow Dr. Cochrane, AB).

Our deepest sympathies to Fay + the family. Even though we were not real close, Glenn always had time to say hi or to share a laugh. His warm smile + handshake let you know that his heart was in the right place. God blessed us with Glenn’s sense of humor many times over the years. Our hearts are heavy as well… Heaven has gained a truly beautiful soul.
My heart is heavy with dear Glenn’s passing. A kinder man, a gentler person I could not have known. Glenn was my husband’s dear friend and now the two of them are riding the high mountain roads up there together.
It is with great sadness that I respond to this news. Glenn and I and our crew travelled tens of thousands of miles together since 2008. We shared meals and conversations and laughed until we cried. We stayed together on the road and had amazing and powerful talks about life and family and the nature of God. In all my years I do not believe that I have met a man that was a better demonstration of a reflection of the light of Jesus. Miranda and I send our love.

Our dearest Krista. Larry and I were very sorry to hear of the loss of your father. Our thoughts and our prayers are with you and your family as you go through this trying time. We love you and are sending you so many hugs and kisses. Your dad left this world with an awesome creation and that is you and your sister. He now goes to ride with the Angels. He will be with you always and his energy and love for you will never die.
We are grieving the loss of our dear friend Glenn. Fay, you have lost your soulmate. This is both tragic and inconceivable. Ken and I adore you two and we have such respect for this kind l, decent and gentle man that left us too soon. Our deepest and most sincere apologies. What a HUGE loss to your family and community. Nothing will replace Genn’s subtle and soft spoken manner. He was a councillor, a listener- not loud and overbearing… the best father, husband, grandfather, friend. We will miss him so much!
Brenda and Ken

We are so sorry for your unimaginable loss. May God be your strength and comfort during this very difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
So sorry to hear of the loss of Glenn. He was a great employee and co-worker at Shell and was always a pleasure to work with. His humor and honesty was always so refreshing. He leaves behind many friends who will miss him at wing night and on the bike trips.
My deepest sympathies to the family and friends.
