George Trent of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Rockyview General Hospital, Calgary. He was born on February 6, 1927 in Strangmuir, Alberta, one of 11 children born to Gilbert and Helen Trent. George was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Royal Canadian Navy. He worked as a journeyman machinist and later as a sales representative for various service companies in the oil and gas industry. His interests included woodworking, gardening, watching hockey, and he was recognized for his volunteerism as a Snow Angel. George was a man of few words and had a good sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy, mother of his children in 1973, his only son Ernie in 1993, four sisters: Dorothy Scott, Irene Hansen, Lil Weishlow, and Alice Budner, two brothers: Wilf and Ernie. He is survived by his wife Fran of 32 years,Three daughters: Judy ( Steve ) Dernick of Houston, Texas, Debra ( Roger ) Sturm of Calgary, and Sandy ( Jeff ) Marsh of Edmonton, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, his stepchildren Doran ( Shelly ) McCreary, & Pat McCreary, and his remaining siblings: Art, Alfred, Frances Nichols, and Florence Alden. As well as a circle of other relatives and friends.

The will be no memorial service, cremation has taken place. Those wishing to honour George’s memory, may instead make donations in his name directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331-29 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 4N2 or
