SHIELDS, William Kenneth
February 04, 1928 – December 24, 2016
It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Ken, on December 24, 2016 at the age of 88 years. He was born in Victoria Park, Calgary, Alberta on Feb. 4, 1928. He joined the Calgary Fire Department in 1951 and retired as a Division Chief in January 1987. He often told us he loved his 36 years with the fire department and said he would go back tomorrow if he could. He had a life long passion for horses that started when he was a teenager.
Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Edith of 66 years, three children, Ken (Carol), Karen (Jim) Floyd, Kathy (Gord) Dodwell. He was an amazing family man and was a loving grandfather to Lisa (Rory) Greaves, Lindsay Dodwell, Kelsey (Matthew) Ravlich and Allison (Kelly) MacKenzie. He loved his five great grandchildren dearly, Zoey and Liam Greaves, Lochlan Ravlich and Hudson and Harper MacKenzie.
No formal service will be held as he had requested a family celebration of life.
Arrangements in care of Lawrence (Larry) Slywka of Cochrane Country Funeral Home 403-932-1039.

Dear Karen and family.
Ken was my Captain at #5 Station and I was one of his drivers. I truly enjoyed working with him and we had a lot of good times. Thank you Ken for your friendship and god bless you.
