SCHMIDT, Edward Joseph

Mr. Schmidt Photo
August 22, 1934 – December 11, 2014

It is with great sadness that we announce Ed’s passing on December 11, 2014 at 80 years of age. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Joyce, and their sons, Todd, Brent (Sheri), and Trevor (Mona) and his special grandchildren; Cole, Madi, Morgan, and Kieran.
Ed is survived by sisters; Kate, Evelyn, and Ann, as well as by his brothers; Tony (Irene), Ralph (Sonia), and many nieces and nephews.
Born on a farm in Minton Saskatchewan, Ed was known by many for his incredible work ethic and his love for his family above all else. Ed loved sports and always enjoyed a game of pool or cards, but he was most happy in the company of family and friends.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church ( 128 First Street East, Cochrane ) on Thursday, December 18th , 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with a luncheon to follow.

Please address any donations in Ed’s memory to CHAPS (Cochrane Historical & Archival Preservation Society) .

Dear Auntie Joyce, Todd, Brent, Trevor and families
We are all saddened to lose such a wonderful man. I love the photo of him. He looks just as he always did – dependable, fun, loyal and handsome. Remember all the good times and let them outshine the last months that have been so challenging for all of you. Uncle Ed was always a great man in my eyes. I always felt that I had the best godparents in the world!

Darrell will be attending the funeral on Thursday. We have a flight into Calgary that arrives around 8 am. We will drive to Cochrane from there and meet you at the church before 10:30 am. I pray that you all find solace in the fact that Uncle Ed’s final rest is in Heaven where he will continue to watch over his loved ones.

    Love, Karen, Darrell and boys

Those grandkids he was so proud of them, how he worried about them and hoped the values he shared would carry them through life.May the coming days bring you comfort in knowing he will always be watching over you and his love will comfort you. What sad news when we heard of Ed’s passing. We have so many memories of all the laughs we enjoyed with Vern and Ed at the cabin., and of course we still have all the evidence of all his wonderful talents. I don’t know anyone that was a more positive and sincere man, always had a smile and hug. We are so sorry that we are not home for his service, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time. Sincerely, Faye, Kenzie, David, Michael and families.
