SAUNDERS, Kenneth (Ken)

September 17, 1953 – December 2, 2021

HE WAS JUST HERE….and now he is gone. The family of Kenneth (Ken) Saunders sadly announces his passing on December 2, 2021 in Calgary. Ken was born on September 17, 1953 the sixth child in a family of eight to John & Hazel Saunders. Born, raised and educated in Calgary, Ken attended Kensington Road Elementary School, Queen Elizabeth Junior High, Crescent Heights High School and SAIT.

Kenny was a heavy equipment operator for most of his career, working in various places in Alberta before moving to Hamilton, Ontario in 1987. A long time member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Ken operated cranes, gradalls and other similar equipment. Ken retired after many years working at Stelco Steel.

Ken was a serious hockey card collector with a keen interest in the Calgary Flames.

Survived by his faithful and much loved canine companions Teddy and Buddy. Also, siblings Tim (Kathie), Jo-Ann, Nola (Edwin) and Rob (June), step-children April (Jon), Heather (Mark) and Ryan (Marsha). Beloved uncle to numerous nieces & nephews and grandpa to several step-grandchildren. Sadly survived by his estranged daughters Alyssia and Kristy and step-daughter Rebecca. Best of best friends John (Ampur).

Predeceased by his parents, John (2004) & Hazel (2006), brothers Fred (1970), Greg (2014) and sister Shirley-Ann (2011) brothers-in-laws Richard (Dick) (2004) & Ron (2012) and dog Bobby (2006).

At Ken’s request there will be no service. A cremation has taken place and interment we will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers spend time with your family and tell them how much they mean to you, which is what Ken always did.
