RYAN, Duane Aldon

November 28, 1936 – June 30, 2017

 

Duane Aldon Ryan went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 30, 2017 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 80.  Predeceased by Parents; Daughter Carolyn; Brothers-in-Law: Dave Rederburg, George Rasmuson, Lloyd Hansen and Merlin Skjonsby.   Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruth; Sons: Barrie (Cindy), Randy, Kevin (Carlene), Conrad (Dayna); Daughters: Sherry (Mark) Thompson, Geraldine Clark, Pamela (Adrian) Prudden; Numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; Sisters: Lauretta Hansen, Berva (Don) McPherson, Jeanette (Everett) Rederburg; Brother-in-Law Raymond (Joyce) Rasmuson; Sisters-in-law: Judy Rasmuson, Ann Skjonsby.  As well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Duane was born on November 28, 1936 in Beaubier Saskatchewan.  He attended teachers college and taught for two years.  He married Ruth after his first year of teaching.  He then went on to work for Shell Canada in Midale, SK for 30 years.  He retired from Shell in 1987 and then consulted in the oilfield for another 20 years. He shared his love of sports with his boys, coaching and playing baseball and hockey.  He enjoyed traveling with his family and visiting with people.  He showed a deep love for his family through his generosity.  He is loved by his family and many friends and will be greatly missed.

A very special thank to the Doctors and Staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Center and the Dulcina Hospice.  You not only made a difference in Duane’s life but in his family as well. Thank you.  Service: Saturday July 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM, Hawkwood Baptist Church, 20 Hawkwood Dr NW, Calgary, AB.  If so desired donations can be made in memory of Duane to the Tom Baker Cancer Center, Calgary, Alberta.

    My heart is sad that my brother Duane is no longer with us. He was the best ! So kind to me all my life. He did so many good things to both Lloyd and myself. There are many stories that could be told about our time with him.
    I am so thankful for Ruth for her caring love for him.
    Blessings to her.
    We have the blessed hope of seeing Duane once again in Heaven.

    We had a wonderful time with Diane and Ruth 12 years ago enjoying their exceptional hospitality and Duane’s willingness to be our provincial Tour Guide to see family we hadn’t seen in years and younger ones we had never met! He is missed but enjoying indescribable and eternal Peace and Joy!

    I will never forget the summer of my 12th year, my Grandma Mabel took my brother Greg and I around to visit several of our Canadian Aunties, Uncles & cousins.
