ROTHERY, Margaret Isabelle (nee Brown)

July 7, 1932 – April 25, 2023

Marg passed away with her children Kim, Kevin & Blaine by her side. Left to mourn with them are many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

Marg had spent the last month of her life at Agape Hospice. She received wonderful care by Agape’s exceptional staff. Their care also extended to us, her family. We would like to thank all the staff at Agape; you are very special caregivers.

Marg was born in Vermilion, AB and loved to tell people she and her family crossed the prairies in a covered wagon. She had a good sense of humour and really enjoyed the stories in the seniors paper; especially those written by a great neighbour. Marg looked forward to spring and summer to sit on her deck with neighbours and friends enjoying a glass or two of Pino. When looking out across the yard, the birds, except magpies, entertained her. The squirrels, not so much! 😂

Marg was predeceased by her husband, Dave Rothery, his 3 brothers and their spouses well as all her 9 brothers and sisters and their spouses. Marg was the last of that generation in the family and was the glue that kept almost all of the family connected and in contact. Our generation needs to step up and continue to hold on to family.

An open house, celebration life Tea, will be held for Margaret on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm in the Clubhouse at Macewan Ridge Villas NW (across from Margaret’s townhouse). Interment with David will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Canadian Cancer, Foothills Burn Unit or any other charity of your choice.

Sorry to hear of Aunt Margaret’s passing. Have fond memories of her/Dave and the kids at the farm and of course the Hazel Meland family reunions. Margaret’s laugh, awesome sense of humor, always had a smile. Of course her homemade wine that she loved for people to sample when dropping by their trailer at the reunions.
