REID, (Pete) Andrew Peter

August 8, 1956 – September 20, 2021

Pete passed away comfortably at home on the morning of September 20th surrounded by his family.  He had a long battle with gallbladder cancer and everyone who knew Pete, knew he was a fighter.  Days prior to his passing, family and friends gathered around the home he had built 30 years ago and shared memories, laughter and so much love. During this time Pete made a comment “birth is so magical, why can’t death be magical too?”  Just like Pete; turning a negative into a positive.  Everyone who knew Pete, looked forward to his quick wit, and ability to recall stories with countless detail.  No matter the individual, Pete was able to make you smile and feel like you were the most important person in the world when you were in his presence.  Pete was the hardest worker and that was clearly demonstrated by the beautiful life he built around him.

Pete was a hero and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years; Sandy (nee Taylor), children Katie (Darren) & Robbie whom he had so much pride in.  He will be greatly missed by his dog Jordie, cat Kudo and grand-dog Jasper.  One of five children born to Fergus & Patricia Reid of Barrie, Ontario.  Brother of Lesley (Bill), Rob (Patti), Ruth (Richard) & Jean (Johnny).  Dear brother-in-law of Jenny & Linda (Bob) and extremely loved mother-in-law Regine Taylor.  Pete will be remembered by many nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and countless friends.

In lieu of flowers please buy yourself or someone you love a plant to remember our hero Pete.  The family wishes to extend special thanks to Cochrane Palliative Home Care, Cochrane Country Funeral Home and Dr. Sasha Lupichuk and team at the Tom Baker Cancer Center.

Arrangements entrusted to Florence (Flo) Simpson, Funeral Director

RIP dear Peter. I had the pleasure of meeting you when I was 14 years old, when we worked together at the Hamburger Shop in Barrie. We met again in Calgary at the Keg 35 years later! Was so happy to get the time to spend with you and Sandy then. And my daughter and Katie got to know each other when they were little!
    Love,
    Karen

Peter I will miss our phone calls. You have no idea how I looked forward to hearing your voice. I know at the other end of the phone there would be a smile on your face like always. You were so down to earth that when you walked into a room you would brighten up the day for everyone. When we reconnected after all those years, it was like we were never apart. You guys made my day when you came and visited me out in Oro. It was so hard to say goodbye because knew I would never see you again. I hope you come and visit me in my dreams, I would love that. My heart goes out to Sandy and family.
    Love, Kevin and Christine
