RAMSAY, Shirley May
May 18, 1921 – July 12, 2021
It is with much sadness that the family announces the passing of Shirley May Ramsay. She peacefully passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Carewest Colonel Belcher in Calgary, Alberta.
Shirley was born in Strathmore, Alberta on May 18, 1921 to Harry and Alice Satchwell. She was married to Don Ramsay for 58 years until his passing in 1997. She lived most of her life in the Dogpound, Bottrel and Westbrook area. She was predeceased by her father and mother, her husband, her sisters, Lillian McElroy and Huberta (Toby) Hayne, and her brother, Henry Ike Satchwell.
Shirley actively enjoyed watching her grandchildren compete in rodeo, hockey and baseball. She was an active member of the Dogpound Bluebirds. Shirley thoroughly enjoyed attending the strawberry social each year to socialize with friends and neighbors.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Wallace “Tuff” (Gail) Ramsay of Sundre, Don “Tex” Ramsay of Cochrane, and Roxanne (Murray) Milan of Cochrane; her nine grandchildren, Pat Ramsay, Doug (Jeanette) Ramsay, Drew (Krista) Ramsay, Baillie Milan, Tanner (Chelsea) Milan, Burke (Marie) Ramsay, Brooke (Jared) Croft, and Straws (Josee) Milan; and her five great-grandchildren, Jamie Ramsay, Quinn Ramsay, Maycie Ramsay, Brexli Milan, Jaxson Ramsay, and Swaizi Milan.
We would also like to thank the staff of the Colonel Belcher Care Center for the care she received while there for the last few years.
A Social Gathering will be held at Old Dogpound Hall on Thursday July 29, 2021 from 2pm – 5pm.

Condolences to the Family. A wonderful long life for a special lady.
We were so sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing and send our deepest condolences to the family. We used to enjoy running into Shirley at some of our local stores; we always had a good visit about the “old days” and her much loved grand kids 🙂 She was a lovely lady and we know she will be missed greatly.
