It is with great sadness and joy that we announce Pius passed away peacefully at the age of 92. He will be missed by his daughters, Terri (Steve) and Maria (Doug) and son Al (Jan); grandchildren, Trevor and Krista, step grandchildren, Wayne, Tyler and Holly, and 9 great grandchildren. Pius was predeceased by his loving wife, Elizabeth, his father, Josef, stepfather, Andrew Laturnus, mother, Magdalena, sisters, Lydia, Eugania, brothers, Andrew, Alex and Aloysius. He is survived by his sisters, Emmy, Marie (Ed), Elvira (Jerry) and brother, Nick (Colleen). Pius was born in the Ukraine, moved to Germany during the war, and immigrated to Canada in 1949. After farming in Mankota, Saskatchewan for several years, the family moved to Swift Current. In 2002 Pius and Elizabeth moved to Calgary to be closer to their children and grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Dr. Lam and the staff of Extendicare Cedars Villa, with special thanks to the staff at Willow.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 800 – 85th Street S.W., Calgary, Alberta on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made directly to the CNIB, 1929 Bay View Avenue.
