Alexander Toulgoet, husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Center on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the age of 92 years. Loving remembered by family Andrea (Jim Oram), Arlene Grindley, Alberta (Brian Chikmoroff) and Adele Toulgoet; grandchildren Essya and Michael Chikmoroff and brother Patrick Toulgoet. Alexander was predeceased by his wife Annie; brothers Emile, George and Arthur; sisters Anne Toulgoet and Irene Simpson; and son-in-law Robert Grindley. Born at home near Cochrane, he was raised in Calgary where he attended St Joseph’s and St Mary’s Boys School. Alexander worked in their family business until he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 where he trained to become an airplane mechanic. He was stationed at Torbay in Newfoundland and in 1944 he was transferred to Vancouver Island to Sydney and Comox. Alexander worked for CPR first as a fireman and then an engineer; in 1959 he joined Canada Post as a letter carrier until his retirement in 1983. Alexander and Annie were married in 1948 and with their extended family enjoyed many years of camping, card nights and square dancing. Dad and Mum had great adventures traveling with Andrea and Jim to Ireland, France, Australia, Japan, Caribbean, Europe, and several trips to Hawaii and Alaska.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dawes and the staff of Unit 43, the Physio team at PLC. There will be no formal funeral service, as per Alexander’s request, cremation has already taken place.
