In Loving Memory of Rita Ivera Chin
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Rita Ivera Chin who left us peacefully on January 26, 2025, at the age of 96. Her life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering strength, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
A Life Well-Lived
Rita was born on November 21, 1928, in Richmond Park, Jamaica. She was the cherished youngest daughter of Constance and Aaron Simpson, and grew up in a close-knit family that instilled in her the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion. From a young age, she displayed a remarkable sense of responsibility and an innate ability to care for others, qualities that would define her entire life.
Family and Legacy
In 1959, Rita married her loving husband, Ken. They were blessed with two children: Beth and Raymond. As a grandmother, she was a beacon of love and affection. Her grandchildren, Alexandra and Evelyn were her pride and joy. She was also graced with two great-grandchildren, Addison and Logan, who filled her final years with tenderness, laughter and warmth.
Career and Personal Accomplishments
Rita had a fruitful career as a stenographer and administrative specialist, where she made significant contributions and touched many lives. Her dedication and work ethic were exemplary, earning her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and community. Her commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of working with her.
Passions and Hobbies
A lifelong lover of music, Rita found immense joy in playing the piano and listening to her favourite songs. Her love of music was a passion that she shared with her family, and she could often be found singing along as her granddaughters played cherished classics on the piano in her home.
Farewell and Celebration of Life
A public visitation will be held on February 4th, 2025, from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Cochrane Country Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories, honour her life, and find solace in each other's company. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
A private celebration of Rita's life will be held on February 6th, 2025, at Cochrane Country Funeral Home. To respect the intimacy of the occasion, the service will not be live streamed. However, a recording will be made available for those who wish to honour her memory from afar.
As we say goodbye to our beloved Rita, we hold on to the countless memories and the love she shared. Her spirit will continue to guide us, and her legacy will live on through the lives she touched. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her light will forever shine in our hearts.
Rest in peace, dear Rita. You will be forever loved and missed.
