It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Rebecca (Becky) Fitzgerald, due to a short illness, on November 19, 2023.
Born April 24, 1984 in Edmonton, Alberta, Becky grew up on an acreage west of Stony Plain, Alberta. She always had to work hard at school but graduated from École Meridian Heights School, Memorial Composite High School, and achieved her greatest goal by graduating with an elementary teaching degree from the University of Alberta in 2011.
In 2020 she began teaching at Stoney Nakoda Elementary School in Morley, Alberta. She was part of the literacy team and loved her job, students, and school community.
Becky was an accomplished Girl Guide, and an active member of Stony Plain United Church, participating fully in Sunday School and eventually led the Youth Group for many years. Becky loved knitting, crafting, sitcoms, reality TV, movies, live theatre, and concerts.
Becky will be forever loved and missed by her parents, Rick and Karen; her brother Ian; aunts and uncles, Joyce and Donald Darling, Marcy and Larry Lyle, and Verna and Suji Pillai; cousins, Adam and Lily Darling and children, Sean Darling, Jayme Lyle, Sachin and Aryan Pillai; as well as many extended family and friends.
Becky was predeceased by her grandparents Dick and Roberta Fitzgerald, Gordon and Norma Lyle, and uncle Ed Fitzgerald.
A Celebration of Becky’s Life will be held at Stony Plain United Church, 5012 51 Ave, Stony Plain, AB, on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 11:00 am.
