Janet was born in Regina, Saskatchewan to Orrin and Ruth (Stuart) Paulson. She was predeceased by her only brother Robert Stuart Paulson in 1975. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, William Gerald Meggeson and her daughters, Debbie Anne ( Alan ) Fenton and Sheryl Anne. She is also survived by and will be dearly missed by her grandchildren; Karla Anne, Michael Dwayne and Landan William Gerald.

Through Dad’s work we had the opportunity to live in many places. Mom always adapted to each move and made sure we were involved in many activities and that our school work was always done. Early on Mom and Dad started a tradition that years later remained: as a young family, no matter where we were living, we joined our “summer families” at Sandy Point, BC and spent our summers at the beach. These memories are priceless.

Our family finally settled in Cochrane in 1975. Mom worked for the Royal Bank until her first grandchild was born. She then stayed home and was the greatest caregiver any kid could have ever wanted. During the school year the kids and their friends always knew where they could go to get fed and cared for … and kept in line when needed. She packed up the motor home and grandkids every summer and raised them in the Shuswap, BC where they were given the opportunity to develop “summer families” like we had and enjoyed similar activities centered around the beach and the water. Mom’s greatest love was her family.

Mom’s house was her pride and she was always busy with a project or two. She was handy around the house and impressive at decorating. Mom was very creative and enjoyed making crafts, sewing and crocheting. She also had a lucky streak when it came to the slots in Las Vegas and her weekly bingo outings. As her grandkids grew up, she grew too. She even got her motorbike license and a little Honda Rebel 250! As technology evolved, so did Grandma. She took to the computer and her favorite computer games as well as texting. She was a part of everything the kids did.

Mom had a very kind and thoughtful heart and always placed everyone ahead of herself. We were blessed to have her as our Wife, Mom and Grandma and she will forever be in our hearts. And we are sure that she will be watching over us and we take comfort in knowing that her tenacity will make it so.

Mom understood the aging process and the trials she was going through but she stood very strong and shielded us from much of her pain right to the end.

To My Children

When I spill some food on my nice clean dress

Or maybe forget to tie my shoe

Please be patient and perhaps reminisce

About the hours I spent with you

When I taught you how to eat with care

Plus tying shoe laces and your numbers too

Dressing yourself and combing your hair

Those were precious hours spent with you

So when I forget what I was about to say

Just give me a minute – or maybe two

It probably wasn’t important anyway

And I would much rather listen to you

If I tell a story one more time

And you know the ending through and through

Please remember your first nursery rhyme

When I rehearsed it a hundred times with you

When my legs are tired and it’s hard to stand

Or walk the steady pace I would like to do

Please take me carefully by the hand

And guide me now as I did with you

-Anon

Our Mom wrote her own story… and we will continue to turn the pages for her now. We love you, Mom!
