Kenneth Ernest Mcclennon

October 1, 1935 — June 13, 2013

October 1, 1935 – June 13, 2013

Kenneth Ernest McClennon was born in Nobleford Alberta, October 1, 1935 to Annie and Thomas McClennon. His family moved to Rimbey, AB where Ken remained until he moved to Calgary, at the age of 20. He married his wife Shirley on September 29, 1956. Ken was predeceased by his wife Shirley, parents Annie and Thomas, brothers Don and Leonard. He is survived by brothers Lorne and Mervin, sisters Jane and Faith. He is survived by his three children, Ken, Sandra, and Karen (James), and grandchildren, Melissa, Vanessa, Ches, Forest, Winston, Malorie, Stephanie, Brendan, Sarah, Kassi, and Mckenzie. Great Grandchildren, Madison, Devon, Emily, and Gavin.

He played men’s Fastball for Springbank, a rarity, he was a left handed pitcher. Ken and Shirley raised their three children Ken Jr. , Sandy and Karen in Bowness. Ken became an instrumental contributor to the founding of the Bowness Community Association, participating in fundraising and the building of the community hall. He served as Sports Director, Coached Boys Fastball and assisted with the Juvenile Hockey team.

Ken was a Bricklayer and Mason by trade. He ran his own General Contracting Business until his retirement. He joined IATSE Local 212 and constructed sets for numerous movies, shows and special events. In the 70’s and early 80’s Ken was very involved in the Bowness Lions Club.

His many interests included dancing, camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, and his grandchildren. Ken loved to dance! He later took a Taxidermy course so he could do his own Taxidermy work. He then moved to Gleichen, AB and farmed 146 acres for several years. On the move again, he headed to Canoe, British Columbia, in the hopes of never having to scrape his windshield again. Sadly, he shoveled more snow the few years there than all of his time in Chinook country, AB. For health reasons he returned to Calgary, AB where he resided at Carewest Garrison Green until his passing on June 13, 2013. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
