Bessie MacKenzie of Dog Pound, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2015 at the age of 88, with her family at her side. She was predeceased by a grandson Keith on August 18,1991
and her husband David on November 22, 2007. She is lovingly survived by her sons Alan (Beverly) Ross (Elaine) and Ward (Dixi) along with 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Bessie was born in Acme, Alberta on June 26, 1927 and shortly after moved to Water Valley, Alberta with her mother and father, Edith and William King. Upon marriage the career of farming and raising a family at Dog Pound kept her fully engaged and entertained. She reveled in her family and embraced those rural surroundings.
After cremation, a Memorial Service to celebrate Bessie’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church ( 128 First Street East, Cochrane ) on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Bessie’s memory may be made to STARS Air Ambulance, 1441 Aviation Pk N.E., Calgary, AB.
