May 4, 1927 – February 5, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great grandfather Steve. He was born in Leszczance, Ukraine to Wasyl and Paraska Lupijosuk. Steve left home and travelled to Germany in search of a better life. From there he immigrated to Canada, landing in Halifax and moved west to set down roots in Calgary. He married the love of his life Angela in 1950 and together they worked side by side on his many business ventures, including owning and operating Charm Cleaners & Tailors. Steve ended his career as the Tailor for the City of Calgary Fire Department.
Steve was always a very sociable person and could not go anywhere without running into someone he knew socially or through his businesses. Steve’s family was all important to him and he always loved to get together with them for drinks, conversation and a game of dice.
Steve was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years Angela and 2 siblings. He is survived by his son Bill (Carol), their children Keri (Andrew) and Lindsay, his daughter Helen (Ken), their children Curtis (Holly) and Garret, great grandchildren Addison, Lucas, Sierra and Samantha, other family members in Canada and the Ukraine and many good friends including Marjorie Stooshinoff and Hellar Palamar.
A private funeral service will be held with the Father Roman Planchak officiating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta or the Alzheimer Society of Alberta.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Bethany Calgary for their kind and compassionate care of Steve.
