Lillian Eleanor Larsen, a lifelong rancher and breeder of purebred Limousin cattle, passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Mount Royal Care Centre, Calgary, May 25, 2013, in her 91st year. She was the daughter of the late Elna Sophia Larsen (nee Nielsen) and Fredrick Halbert Larsen of Symons Valley, Alberta. Lil was predeceased by her brothers Albert (Winifred nee Grainger-Stirling) in January 1944, Edward (Adelma nee Zuccolo), in 1988, Clarence in 2007, her sister Frances in 1991, and George Nelson in 2007; a life long family friend, and 70 year ranch hand. She is survived by one sister-in-law Wilma, eight nieces and nephews, and their families. Lil will be greatly missed by her family, and friends of the upper Grand Valley and Bottrel / Dartique area, past and present, as well as former employees. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Mount Royal Care Centre for their exceptional care of Lil; especially those on the 4th floor. A Celebration of Lillian’s Life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 128 First Street East, Cochrane, on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Ray Goodship officiating. A Private interment has taken place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Cochrane. If friends and family so desire, memorial tributes in Lil’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
