Kevin Robert Wood

Kevin Robert Wood, known fondly as Kobb or Kevy, touched the lives of many through his remarkable journey. He was born on June 5, 1952, in Toronto, Ontario and passed away on December 4, 2023, in Calgary, Alberta. Kevin's legacy spans a diverse range of careers and connections, leaving an indelible mark on the people he encountered.

From his early years, Kevin displayed a passion for sports. Graduating from the University of Calgary in the 70's with two degrees, one in Physical Education and the other in Education. He embarked upon a journey that would shape his life's path. His charismatic personality and witty sense of humor made him an instant favorite among friends and colleagues.

Kevin's career began as a successful realtor in Calgary. However, his desire to have a more profound impact on the lives of others led him to pursue a career in teaching. In the '80s, him, Donna and Tom moved up to McLennan, Alberta, becoming an esteemed teacher. It was there that he discovered his gift for connecting with students on a personal level.

Kevin's dedication and natural leadership abilities propelled him through the ranks of educational administration. Progressing from Vice Principal of H.J. Cody in Sylvan Lake to eventually becoming the Principal of David Thompson High School near Rocky Mountain House. He embraced each role with unwavering commitment, often coaching the school's volleyball and basketball teams, to name a few.

When not immersed in work, Kevin found solace indulging in hobbies that brought him joy. Kevin loved all sporting endeavors, with a particular fondness for golf. Many memorable moments were shared on the course with his family and friends, making it a treasured pastime. He also enjoyed gardening with Donna, taking his kids for bike rides, entertaining friends with elaborate dinners, settling down to watch a classic film, and enjoying a pint or two at a pub with his friends.

Kevin is survived by his son Tom (Tara); daughter Natalie (Reid); granddaughters Olivia, Evelyn, Cameron; grandson Henry; and partner Sandy.  He was preceded in death by his loving parents and brothers, as well as Donna, his dear wife.

As we mourn Kevin's passing, let us remember the incredible legacy he leaves behind. His charismatic personality brought warmth into every room he entered. The wit and humor he possessed provided joy during even the darkest times. May we carry forth Kevin's spirit as we navigate our own journeys, never forgetting the profound impact one person can make on the lives of others.
