It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken Dewsbury. Ken will be dearly missed by his children: Erin (Trevor) Luken and Chris (Rebecca) Dewsbury. “Papa” will forever be remembered by his grandchildren: Liam, Callum, and Ewan Dewsbury, and Nathan and Amy Luken; his brother, Bill (Stella) Dewsbury, nephews, niece, and close cousins. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Dona on May 27, 1993, as well as his sister Ruth and brother-in-law John Petrowich.
Ken was born in Drumheller and raised in Gartly. He attended elementary school in Michichi and high school in Delia. He then went to the Provincial Institute of Technology and Art (PITA) before moving to the Bow Valley where he worked for Trans Alta Utilities for the next 34 years, taking early retirement in 1993. In retirement Ken loved to travel, play golf, spend time with his family and tinker on the many projects he had on the go. During his later years, his favourite pastime was driving. He spent many hours in his car travelling over the Highwood Pass to Longview for beef jerky, looking for wildlife around Lake Minnewanka, or heading into BC. He tells many stories of growing up on the prairies and was always happy making trips throughout Alberta, especially Michichi, Drumheller, and Fairview. Ken also loved socializing with all the friends he has made during his time in Seebe, Spray, and Canmore.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Foothills Hospital for the loving care they gave Ken and to the many visitors, both family and friends, that spent quality time with him right to the end.
Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ken can do so to the Arthritis Society of Canada.
