John “Jack” Charles Tennant

d. May 20, 2018

Dec. 23, 1935 Arrow River, MB – May 20, 2018 Cochrane, AB

It is with profound sadness that the family of Jack Tennant announces his passing on May 20, 2018 in Cochrane at the age of 82.

Jack was born in Arrow River, Manitoba in 1935 and enjoyed success and great ful llment as a journalist. His unconventional journey through life featured some side-trips from the newspaper business to explore

life in the hockey and real estate business. His love of people, Cochrane and all animals made him a much-loved community leader and ambassador.

With a keen sense of the ironic and a life-long ability to uncover injustice and wield the written word in defence of the down-trodden, Jack was a much-decorated writer. In addition to leaving behind legions of devoted readers, as a friend of Bill W, Jack also played an important role in many lives touched by “the program”.

Jack is survived by his loving partner of 38 years, Brenda, his sons Ian and Alan (Rona), granddaughter Michelle (Matt Carre), great grandchildren Lochlan and Smith, and granddaughter Lisa (Laura Parent), great grandson Mateo, brother Mark Tennant (Gail), sister Ruth Tennant, brother-in-law Brad Fyfe (Jack’s sister Louise passed away May 14, 2018) and many other nieces, nephews, cousins.

Thank you to Cochrane EMS for their valiant efforts.

Jack’s family invites you to a Celebration of Life on Tuesday May 29 at 2:00pm at RockPointe Church at Hwy 1A and Lochend Rd. Please no flowers, we ask that you magnify Jack’s giving nature by making a donation to the Cochrane and Area Humane Society or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
