Henryk Skrzypek

Musician, Engineer, Adventurer

Born in Poland before eventually immigrating to Canada, Henry was firstly a musician and composer, always jotting down lyrics, recording voice memos of songs formulating in his head, and performing at every opportunity he got.

He was also an accomplished engineer, graduating in Krakow from AGH – the University of Science and Technology, and then in Edmonton from the University of Alberta, where he carried out research projects on corrosion protection and hydrogen penetration through metals. He worked successfully for, and as a consultant, at many Oil & Gas companies in Calgary during the last twenty years of his career before retiring.

He was a quintessential athlete, representing his school in Debica, Poland in athletics. He excelled at javelin, skiing and tennis.

He loved the natural world. The trees, flowers, vegetables and berries he planted in his garden were as much a joy to him as exploring the Rocky Mountains.
