May 28, 1942 – November 23, 2019
Bob is survived by his loving family and will be greatly missed by his wife Sharon; his daughter Sheila (Guy) Park; his daughter Sherry Guthrie and grandchildren Quinton and Avrey, and great grandsons Kaiden, Mason and Ashton; his brother David (Karen); and his brother-in-law Lyle MacCharles. Bob is predeceased by his brother John and his sister Myrna MacCharles.
Bob loved the Lord. His favorite chapter was Psalm 91. Even with the onset of dementia he loved to
hear the scriptures read to him and to pray together with his wife Sharon. Each
time together was concluded by praying and quoting the verse: “Let the words of
my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD,
my strength, and my redeemer”. Psalm 19:14
The Guthrie family would like to thank the staff at Bethany
Cochrane for the excellent care he received. They were like his extended
family. To the Chaplains of Bethany who were faithful to visit and pray with
Bob when he wasn’t able to attend the Chapel services, thank you.
Bob was raised on a dairy farm in Ontario. One of Bob’s
greater loves was hockey; he playing in the O.H.A. Senior ‘A’, which is
equivalent to the men’s Junior Hockey League today. He was drafted to the
Chicago Blackhawks Farm System, at a point in his young life.
Bob had an extended career in heavy equipment sales; in the
later years, Bob moved to Alberta where he started his own heavy equipment
Sales and Service Company, which focused on mining and forestry.
