June 5, 1919 – December 28, 2012
Ruth Harriet Johnson-Graham (nee Staples) passed away suddenly at the
age of 93 at the Seniors Residence at the Colonel Belcher in Calgary. Born in Fort
Saskatchewan, Alberta, the youngest of three children, she is predeceased by her brother
Dr. Jack Staples of Sidney BC who died two years ago at the age of 94,
and by her brother Hugh Staples who died this year at the age of 98.
Ruth is predeceased by her husband, Clarence Johnson. Ruth married Clarence
Johnson of Barons, Alberta prior to his deployment to Italy during World
War II and after the war they returned to Calgary where she spent the
rest of her life. She is lovingly remembered by their three children, her son
Douglas Johnson (Connie Wilson) of Vancouver, BC, her daughter Nancy Elliot
(John Elliot) of Deep River, Ontario and her daughter, Leslie Johnson (Jim Phipps) of Cochrane,
Alberta. Ruth is also predeceased by her second husband, George Graham, of Calgary, Alberta.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Adam Johnson (Tyler Johnson) of Vancouver, BC,
Eric Johnson of Vancouver, BC, Kristen Elliot Yantha (Adam Yantha) of Pembroke, Ontario and
Denys Elliot of Deep River, Ontario. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Emmett Johnson
and Gareth Johnson of Vancouver, BC and Rowan Marion Yantha of Pembroke, Ontario.
An accomplished pianist and loving mother, she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Cochrane Country Funeral Home, 402 Railway Street West, Cochrane
