1957 – 2023
Ronald Bruce Elves was a humble man who thought he didn’t want an obituary.
But he deserves a few lines.
Ron spent most of his 66 years in Calgary. He was brother to Richard (Leslie) and Joanne (Jeff Wearmouth) and was the fun, silly and creative uncle of Melissa, Brittany, Clay, and Bonnie. Growing up, he was the life of the party. Oh my, we had fun! If you knew Ron, you are nodding your head and laughing. He was also the guy to chase on mountain bikes and skis.
He had many careers. The one we appreciated most was that of a pastry chef. Ron could craft stunning wedding cakes for friends and enviable birthday cakes for his nieces and nephew of pirate ships, spiderman, bumblebees, dogs, or butterflies.
2023 was a tough struggle with cancer. But the last few days were peaceful. We listened to old tunes and hopefully he heard us as we reminisced with laughter and tears. Fittingly Ron slipped away during the Eagles singing “Desperado.” Sometimes he was a lost soul, oft times a desperado. Always a kind heart.
Ron looked for the brighter things in life and liked to make people smile. In Ron’s memory, pay it forward and smile.
