William “Bill” Allison Collin

April 11, 1937 — May 20, 2022

April 11, 1937 – May 20, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of William (Bill) Collin announce his passing on May 20, 2022, in Calgary, AB at the age of 85 years. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. Bill was never daunted by any task he was faced with and thrived on finding solutions and lending a helping hand, whether that was with a phone call, the work of his hands or a hug. He was faced with the biggest challenge of his life when diagnosed with lymphoma but was determined he was going to live at least another 15 years and was doing a fantastic job of “beating cancer” to the wonder of his doctors. Unfortunately, he fell ill and was needed as an angel in heaven rather than our angel here on earth. He will always be with us whether in our memories and lifelong values he instilled or guiding us from heaven.

Bill was born April 11, 1937, at home in Edson, the 7th child of George and Josephine Collin. He is pre-deceased by brothers, McGuire (Mac), George, Merton (Slim), Lloyd as well as sisters Marion and Elaine. Bill is survived by his wife, Glenda and their 5 children: Carrie (Randy), Dave (Christina), Tricia, Jeff (Jody) and Sheila (Dave) as well as 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Bill was known as a pied piper of children and animals, his gentle spirit attracting and soothing everyone around him. He was a favourite uncle to his many nieces and nephews spending quality time with them and creating lifelong memories. If your baby/child would not eat just let them sit on Papa’s lap and they would soon be eating. He was also known as a jack-of-all-trades. There was rarely anything he put his hand to that he was unable to fix or repair. He started life out working in his brother’s grocery store, he operated a vacuum truck, has worked for an oil company, a sulphur plant and a company that painted airplanes finally finding his niche as a business owner/operator. He was a very resourceful man always thinking how to make something work or work better. He always encouraged his loved ones to be whatever they wanted to be no matter how big or small the dreams. He despised cruelty and was a true caretaker of people and animals and will be missed every day by many.
