Clayton Elmer Harmeson

December 27, 1934 — February 5, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Clayton Elmer Harmeson, who departed this life peacefully in his sleep on February 5, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on December 27, 1934, in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Clayton lived a vibrant life marked by hard work and dedication as both a mechanic and a farmer.

Clayton's passion for farming was evident in his decision to move onto a farm near Langdon in the late 1970s, where he found joy and fulfillment tending to the land and his beloved cattle. His commitment to his profession was matched only by his devotion to his family. Recently, in August, he transitioned to Monterey Seniors Village in Calgary.

Clayton’s memory is lovingly held by his children; his daughter Sandy and son Graham, as well as his very special daughter-in-law Michele and granddaughter Abby. He is remembered fondly by his surviving siblings: Lawnie, Jeanette (George), Donna, Diane (Lewis), and Clifford (Donna), along with his sister-in-law Carol. Clayton also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends who were fortunate to know him.

Throughout his life, Clayton found joy in the little things. Together with his late wife Arlene, with whom he now rests, he took great pride in maintaining their yard and creating a beautiful garden, particularly cherishing his greenhouse. Thursdays were special for Clayton; he would gather with neighbours and friends at local cattle auctions, sharing in camaraderie over lunch while enjoying the excitement of the sales.

While we mourn the loss of Clayton, we also celebrate his legacy and the proudest accomplishments of his life, notably reaching the remarkable milestone of 90 years old. He was predeceased by his parents, Josephine and Lester Harmeson, his son Gene, and siblings Evelyn, Veral, Bruce, and Beverly, who he now rejoices with in everlasting peace.

The family extends their deep gratitude to the staff at Monterey Seniors Village for their care and kindness to Clayton. He truly enjoyed and appreciated his time there.

At this time, no funeral is planned. Clayton's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who cherished him, and the love he shared will never be forgotten. For those who wish, donations may be made in Clayton's memory to the Cochrane & Area Humane Society www.cochranehumane.ca
