Brett William Clark

November 21, 1988 — July 12, 2023

November 21, 1988 – July 12, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brett William Clark, 34 years young, on July 12, 2023. A tragic vehicle collision in British Columbia claimed the lives of Brett, his loving partner, Katy Sully, and their dog, Tina. Brett will be truly missed by his parents and brother, Jon, Julie (née Onofrychuk), and Connor Clark (Emma Locke).

Brett was born in Vancouver BC, on Nov 21,1988. From a young age he loved the outdoors and spent summers camping, backpacking with his mom and brother and fishing on the Bow River behind their house in Cochrane, Alberta. In the winters, he spent hours ice fishing. His passion of geology, stemming from a bone digging kit as a young child, brought him to Drumheller as an adult. He worked at the Royal Tyrell Museum for several seasons, allowing him to expand his rock and fossil collection exponentially. Brett was always eager to share his knowledge of geology with others. Whether on the trails or under the microscope, he inspired interest in friends and young cousins.

After graduating from the French Immersion program at Cochrane High School, he went on to study Earth Sciences at the University of Calgary. During university, Brett began Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with his brother, Connor. He trained and competed for over a decade, and was an integral part of the martial arts community in Cochrane.

Most recently, Brett lived in downtown Calgary with his loving partner, Katy, and American Husky, Tina. Brett could be found roller blading behind Tina many nights of the week.

A service will be held in memory of his life Sunday, July 30, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Cochrane RancheHouse,
