Christina "Tina" Rosalie Kuchtyn

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother (Gran), great-grandmother (Granny), and friend, Christina “Tina” Kuchtyn of Cochrane, AB. Tina passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024, at the age of 86, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Bruno Kuchtyn, her parents, Alphonsus and Annie Frerot, her brother, Stanley Frerot, and her sister, Margaret Patterson. 

Tina was born on February 23, 1938, in Blairmore, Alberta. She completed her schooling there and met her future husband. Bruno and Tina were married on November 26, 1957. Following their marriage, they moved to Calgary where they raised their two children Kevin and Lana. Tina had a fulfilling career at the CIBC Data Center where she worked until her retirement. 

Family was the cornerstone of Tina’s life. After retiring, she played a central role in countless family gatherings, where her love of cooking was cherished by all. Tina never missed a chance to support her grandchildren’s sporting events, no matter the distance. Most recently, she delighted in attending her great-grandchildren’s activities. Tina also enjoyed camping, traveling the world, painting and above all, shopping. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star Zenith 85 and The Daughters of the Nile, Sakkara 115. Tina enjoyed all the activities that came with being apart of these groups. 

Despite battling ongoing health challenges, Tina’s wit, wisdom, and sense of humor remained undiminished. She never gave into her health struggles and her cognitive sharpness endured until her final breath. 

A celebration of Tina’s life will be held at the Cochrane RancheHouse; (101 RancheHouse Road, Cochrane) on Thursday October 3, 2024 @11:30 A.M. Following the Celebration of Life there will be lunch and refreshments served at the Cochrane Royal Canadian Legion (114 Fifth Ave. Cochrane)

In Tina’s memory, donations can be made to the Children’s Hospital.
