Carmelita Angelita Currie (née Colossi), born on October 20, 1939, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, at the age of 85, at the Age Care Bow Crest home in Calgary. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Archie Currie, who passed away on May 27, 2018. Together, they celebrated nearly 60 years of marriage.
Carmelita is survived by her two daughters, Kamie Currie and her husband Jean-Marc, and their children, Oliver and Chloe; Kari-Lynn (Currie) Rolling and her husband Michael, along with their children, Erika, Owen, and Ethan. She is also survived by her dear sister, Mary Kanerva.
A passionate gardener, Carmelita cherished her time cultivating her plants and flowers. She lived independently until her health no longer allowed it. She dedicated herself to volunteering throughout her life, earning a Life Membership Award from the Royal Canadian Legion, Cochrane Branch, for her remarkable 40 years of service.
Carmelita was a talented cook, having trained as a chef. She spent several years working at the Wintergreen Golf Club in Bragg Creek, where her culinary skills were widely appreciated. In addition to her love for cooking, she enjoyed crafting and was known for creating beautiful Christmas wreaths and decorations that brought joy to many.
Carmelita will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, independence, and contributions to her community.
