November 2, 1953 – February 15, 2013

There are no words to express the sadness we have in our hearts with the sudden passing of such a beautiful woman. Shannon will be forever missed by her loving husband Wayne, and her children, Holly Nicoll (Reiny Kristel), Mason Nicoll (Kim), Jarvis Nicoll (Jenny), Lori Burwash (Bruce Johnson), and Justin Burwash (Betty-Lynne). She is also survived by her mother, Melba Copithorne (Jim), sisters, Karon Baldick (Steve), Cher Menegoz and brother, Forest Estby (Renee). Grandma Shammy will be incredibly missed by her grandchildren, Saige and Cale Kristel, Carson, Maysa, Triston and Lucas Nicoll, Elliott and Annabel Johnson, Jake Gerrie, Molly and Madden Burwash along with many nieces and nephews. Shannon was predeceased by her father, Earl Estby and nephew, James Menegoz. Shannon was born in Calgary, Alberta. She had many passions in life including family, accounting and horses. She was very involved in the Quarter Horse industry serving on many boards to further promote the horse. This included being an active board member and treasurer for the Quarter Horse Association of Alberta (QHAA), treasurer for the Canadian Quarter Horse Association (CQHA) and an Alberta director for the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA). Shannon loved riding and showing horses all over North America, and promoted good horsemanship skills to all of her children. The grandkids will miss their pony rides with her, and learning from their mentor. She loved the western lifestyle, and was a great assistance to Wayne in operating his equine veterinary practice over the years in Springbank. The family would like to thank Dr. Watson, and all of the wonderful nurses in the Neurology and Palliative Care Units for the exceptional care that Shannon received at the Foothills Medical Centre.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Congress Hall at Spruce Meadows (access via Tournament Lane) on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Warren Wiebe officiating. Cremation in care of Cochrane Country Funeral Home.
