December 3, 1929 – August 24, 2015
Beryl Brodie was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on the evening of Monday, August 24, 2015 at the age of 85 years. Beryl was born the youngest of nine children in Lac Vert, SK to James and Jessie Halladay. After an untimely death of her father, Beryl moved to Three Hills, AB with her mother and sisters in 1946. In 1950 she married Jim Brodie and they moved to Calgary. In 1952 they bought a farm by ‘the old bridge’ in Cochrane. Jim and Beryl raised two children, Sandra and Paul. In 1975 they moved to the farm they bought in the Sundre area. Beryl enjoyed serving her Lord and caring for her family. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. In 2004 Beryl moved to Cochrane Bethany Care Center and passed away in 2015 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers disease. Left to mourn her is Beryl’s husband James; daughter Sandra Pickup (Lynn); son Paul (Jan); two grandchildren Alaina Brodie and Tara Coates (Travis); two great grandsons Nolan and Riley; sister-in-law Norma Halladay; and many nephews and nieces. Beryl was predeceased by her parents and siblings including her special twin sister Bernice Hazel. The family would especially like the thank the staff of Cochrane Bethany Care Center for their excellent personal care of Beryl.
A celebration of Beryl’s life will be held at Garrington Community Church on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. A private family graveside will be held at Eagle Valley Cemetery.
