Beverly Joan Head (Casselman) died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on August 4th, 2017 at Rockyview General Hospital. Beverly was born on July 30, 1934 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She attended City Park Collegiate in Saskatoon, and completed her nursing training at the Regina General Hospital. During her early nursing days in Regina, she met and married her loving life partner, Robert (Bob) Head. They celebrated 59 years of marriage on May 24th. As a devoted wife, mother, relative, and friend, Beverly also continued her nursing career throughout numerous moves as she followed Bob’s RCMP transfers across Canada. She worked as a nurse in Saskatoon, Smithers, Prince Rupert, Ottawa, Regina, North Battleford, and Yellowknife. Beverly also enjoyed teaching Indigenous nursing assistant students in Yellowknife before her retirement from nursing.
In addition to her parents, Beverly is predeceased by her daughter, Lorelee, and her brother, Brian. Left to mourn her loss is her husband Bob, her sons Timothy and Barry, her daughters Laurene and Robyn, and son in law, Robert; eleven grandchildren: Tristyn, Victoria, Mahlon, Max, Madison, Milan, Jesse, Gabrielle, Elias, Braden and Allison; sister Bernice; sister-in-law Betty, and brother-in-law Wally; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Beverly made deep and lasting friendships with many special people, who are also grieving her loss. Beverly will be most profoundly remembered as a faithful wife, a loving mother, and a gracious friend. Her dedication to Bob’s career was recognized in 2013 when she was presented with the prestigious Second Man Award by the Commissioner of the RCMP for her steadfast and loyal support of the RCMP and its members.
Heartfelt thanks are sent to all of the dedicated staff at Bethany Care, in Cochrane, where Beverly received outstanding care, as well as the compassionate palliative care that she and family received from the doctors and nurses at the Rockyview General Hospital. Beverly’s family and friends find comfort in knowing she will no longer live with the challenges of Parkinson’s disease, which she faced with grace and strength for 22 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday August 18, 2 pm at the Bow Valley Baptist Church, 54 W Aarsby Road, Cochrane, Alberta. Reverend D.K. Hale presiding.
