November 12, 1929 – September 20, 2012
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Ed Winkel on September 20, 2012 at the age of 82 years. Although Ed had been ill,for the past couple of years, his passing was sudden. Ed will be greatly missed by his loving friend and companion Shirley Laye and his children Leanne Wulff and Lyn Winkel.
Ed was known throughout Cochrane as a kind, generous and loyal man. He was a very hard working man and upon his retirement from the Petro-Fina (Petro Canada) Plant, he started his second career as a highly skilled welder at Studio West Bronze Foundry. Ed was a highly respected member of the Cochrane Lions Club and worked diligently for the community.
Along with Shirley, Leanne and Lyn, Ed will be sadly missed by his three grandchildren Alicia, Kyle, and Tyler, also five great grandchildren Casey, Tianna, Laylen , Jayden, and Cody. He will also be lovingly remembered by 8 brothers and sisters: Arnold (Gladys), Keith (Edna), Joe (Darlene), Edna (Bob), Lena (Keith), Ray (Irma), Sylvester (Carol) and Frank. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Annie and Alois Winkel.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 128 First Street East, Cochrane, on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 11:00 am.
