MARTINEZ, Jonathan “Jon”
June 19, 1974 – June 27, 2016
Our dear Jon passed away too soon, at the age of 42.
He was a perfect match for his beloved wife Crystal, a whole-hearted partner in their family, their work, their sense of adventure, and their off-beat sense of humour. An adoring and playful Dad, he delighted in his children and was so proud of them, each for their own unique self. May they always know this.
Jon sparkled. He was just so much fun, charismatic, intuitive, ambitious and brilliant. Jon had the gift of making things more beautiful and his people fuller versions of themselves. He lived in abundance, generosity and gratitude, sharing his skills and talents without question and treasuring his relationships, especially the love and support of his sister Shantel, and his mother-in-law Cathy.
Jon is deeply mourned by his wife Crystal, and his children, Treighton, Haleigh, Jace, Malachi and Preston. Also left to mourn are his parents Joy and Josue Martinez, sisters Shantel (David) and Shawna, parents-in-law Cathy and Barry, siblings-in-law Grant, Jasmine, Lauren and Brad.
A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11:00 am at Hillhurst United Church (1227 Kensington Close NW, Calgary, AB). Burial will follow at Cochrane Cemetery (408 Centre Ave. Cochrane). Following the Graveside Service, friends are welcome to attend a reception at Jon and Crystal’s business; Trailers247 (41090 Big Hills Springs Road, Cochrane, AB).
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in Jon’s name to a charity of your choice.

Sending you much love from your Winnipeg extended family….
Jon I’ll never forget how welcome you made me feel, you were a light that shined in a dark part of mine. You’ll forever be missed but not forgotten, you have left a legacy behind in 42 short years that many couldn’t achieve in a lifetime. May God continue to bless your family you live and shine thru them. We haven’t seen each other in 20 years or so but I know one thing for certain it would only feel like days apart. I celebrate your life you left behind and I rest in knowing you are not in pain and you’re in the sight and arms of the Lord God. I will always remember the fun times the Loya’s and Martinez family had together..you were a great role model and friend. I remember the day when you guys came to Flowing Wells high from Palo Verde Christian after only seeing you at church or when the families got together it was awesome to have you around even for 1 year. Thank you for the impact you made on my life. Your wife and children will be in my heart and prayers. From my family to yours thank you for the gift of you. Joy, Joe Shauna, Shantel you are all in my heart thank you for sharing your son, brother and friend. -Bryan Loya Tucson, AZ
Pastor Jon touched our lives with joy and encouragement. The Lord used him to confirm many different revelations that the Lord Jesus gave to us. We believe there is real power in the shed blood of the lamb of God the Lord Jesus Christ as did Pastor Jon. See you on the other side just beyond the Eastern Gate. For those who remain here we are sorry for your loss in this world but delighted and celebrating the fact they you will see Pastor Jon again in Eternity… May the peace of our God rest with you.
