Lewis, Cherry photo

September 3, 1931 – June 9, 2016

It is with deep sadness that the family of Cherry Lewis announce her passing at the age of 84. She had an indomitable spirit which enabled her to face a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

In her earlier days Cherry was an avid curler and a past President of the Saskatchewan Ladies Curling Association. She also had fond memories of membership in the Association of Oil Wives Clubs in both Estevan, Saskatchewan and Calgary, Alberta, making many lifelong friends. In spite of her limitations nothing stopped Cherry’s enjoyment and passion for life.

She will be forever held in the hearts of her son, Gregg (Debbie), daughter Jody (Vance) and her grandchildren Tanya (Steve), Sonia (Blake), Samantha (Mark), Amber (Dan), Clayton, Shelby, Brady, Colby, and Jock, great grandchildren Natasha and Issac, sisters Gloria and Audrey as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Cherry was predeceased by her friend and husband Chuck, three sisters Norma, Bette, and Florence, her brother Jack and brother-in-law’s Frank, Ginger, Ted, and Bill.

At Cherry’s request there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cherry’s name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Calgary, 110 Quarry Park Blvd SE, Calgary, AB T2C 3G3.

Arrangements in care of Lawrence (Larry) Slywka of Cochrane Country Funeral Home 403-932-1039. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family at www.cochranecountryfuneralhome.com

We first met Cherry when she sat at mom’s dining table in the Beverley. As the years progressed we would visit with her and she was always so good to our mom. She will be missed. We so agree that she was an courageous and indomitable lady.
