KING, William (Bill) Samuel
January 13, 1946 – August 22, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Samuel King on August 22, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. Bill passed peacefully at home with his family by his side.
With enduring love Bill and his beloved wife, Hilda (nee Rogers), shared 53 beautiful years of marriage. Their partnership was a beacon of devotion and an example of lasting commitment that will continue to inspire all who knew them.
Bill was born in Happy Adventure, Newfoundland on January 13, 1946 and moved to Calgary in 1981. After 25 years in Calgary, Bill and his wife retired to Newfoundland where they spent 12 years, before moving back to Calgary to spend his remaining years with his family.
Beyond his roles as a husband and father, Bill was a dedicated hockey fan, especially to the Calgary Flames, win or lose. He also had a love for fishing and camping where he enjoyed time with his friends and family. Bill was a quiet man with a sense of humor that could make anyone smile.
Bill leaves behind to mourn, Hilda, his wife of 53 years; his 4 children, Barbara, Craig, Lorie, and Cathy (Richard); 7 grandchildren, Joshua, Jennifer, Savannah, Destiny (Jordan), Annabelle, Nathan, and Justin; great-granddaughter Everleigh; mother-in-law Bride Rogers; siblings, Sandra (Nelson), George, Bonnie (Paul) and Dann (Debbie); and many nieces, nephews, friends and family that will miss him greatly.
Bill was predeceased by his father Alexander King; his mother Blanche King; sisters Leona and Iris; brother baby Donald; and father-in-law Eldon Rogers.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society https://cancer.ca/en/

Hilda
Words are always hard to come by when a wonderful person leaves us. Bill will be missed by so many. I’m so happy we had visits, and had good chats. I am here anytime you want to talk, and I will visit you lots.
Barb, Craig, Lorie and Cathy. My heart is with you and your families.
Love you Hilda. Keep memories close and family near. ❤️
My sincere condolences to the family
With our deepest condolences to you at this time. No words can be enough to ease the missing piece of your hearts, where Bill’s presence gone. With time you will find it will get easier. Not because you forgot, but because your heart will fill the place of his presence with the memories that you thought you had forgotten years ago, those small moments that you had taken for granted. Like the chuckle he had while talking about fishing and who caught the big one. Another thing that will be noticed is that you will be missing and wanting to have happen everything that he did that grated on your nerves. (Annoyances will be missed more than some moments.)
With love: Allan and Lorie King
My sincere condolences to all the family. Gone too soon. All my love Donna Babstock-Thorne.
What a beautifully written obituary. Deepest condolences to your family. It’s never easy to lose a loved one. Sending peace and love to all. ❤️☮️
Hilda and Family…we are so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. Take Care
Hilda and Family:
It was both a delight and privilege to have gotten just a glimpse into the persona of Bill during your last Newfoundland home stint. There was always a hint of mischief in his voice and a twinkle of humour in his eyes. There is nothing we can do to erase death, bot I’ve found that the following words have made the loss easier to endure; “Grief is the price we pay for love and it’s worth it a thousand times over. Grief is really just love with no place to go.” Rest easy and find comfort in your memories.
For the two years I got to spend with this amazing family I cannot believe they have lost such an amazing member, Bill was so kind, funny and absolutely loved his family, Bill always made me feel super welcome into his home and made me feel part of the family. Although this loss is so extremely devastating I can only hope that he rests in peace and is free from any pain. Thankyou to the King and Junkar family for giving me the opportunity to be part of the family and enjoy the presence of Bill while he was still in his prime. I send my condolences and prayers. We will all miss you️
Our sincere condolences to Hilda and family xoxo
