JOHNSON, Kenneth Roy

March 8, 1948 – December 24, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Johnson on December 24, 2017 in Cochrane, AB. Ken will be dearly missed by his family, Dee Ann, Tyler (Cath Shaw) and Erin (Jay Hosie) all of Cochrane; sister Betty (Dave) and brother Ron of London, ON; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Ken is predeceased by his parents Roy and June.

Ken was born in Kirkland Lake, ON, living most of his life in Southern Ontario, before moving to Cochrane a few years ago. In Ontario he worked as a Gas Fitter and owned an Industrial Heating and Air Conditioning company in Toronto. In Cochrane Ken operated ‘About Town Taxi’. Ken enjoyed golfing and he was an exceptional junior hockey player in his youth, being a member of the Chicago Blackhawks junior affiliate. Unfortunately, Ken had to abandon his NHL aspirations to care for his family after the death of his father. He was an avid reader and loved a good discussion on all manner of topics.

A private service will take place in South River, ON in the spring of 2018.

Ken will be dearly missed by soo many in this community. I first met him when I took his taxi and not long after he became close to our family. He was truly a great man!
