JENSEN, Marlene
August 29, 1948 -June 16,2017
On June 16, 2017, Marlene Jensen earned her angel wings at the age of 68 and was welcomed with love and open arms by her parents and nephew in heaven. Born in Kinistino, Saskatchewan and raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta, she married her loving husband of 46 years Paul Jensen and they began their family a few years later. Her children, Jason Jensen and Jodi Gach (Kory) and her grandsons Brett and Brody Gach were her pride and joy and not a day went by that her love wasn’t shared equally with all.
Marlene is survived by her older brother Blair (Judy) Reid, niece Tami (Tara), younger brother Dean (Linda) Reid, niece Chelsey (Tyson), nephew Dylan (Ginny) and their Mom Carol (Barry) Reid.
Marlene is predeceased by her parents Keith and Ruby Reid and her nephew Brent Reid.
Marlene, better known as “Mar”, “Momma J”, “MJ”, and “Libby” lived a full life shared with her family and many friends. She spent many hours in rinks, on sports fields and on the golf course often followed by happy hour and entertaining at home or camping. She loved biking and the outdoors and was active and energy-filled until January 2017 when she was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive cancer called cholangiocarcinoma. Fortunately, the last 5 months were spent continuing to make lasting memories and sharing a love that will never be forgotten.

Our thought are with you all in this tough time.
Paul, Jason and Jodi J – condolences on the loss of your wife and mother. I and my daughters very much enjoyed our involvement with the Jensen clan at rinks and road trips over the years. Marlene was a wonderful team manager who ran everything off the ice, on the road and in the dressing room to perfection. She was a very positive influence on all of the young ladies that had the pleasure of dealing with her in their lives as athletes and developing people.
A life well lived but obviously too short.

Dear Paul, Jason, Jody and families, I was so saddened to hear of Marlene’s passing. I know she would have faced this latest challenge (cancer) with much grace and bravery and of course with her beautiful smile ever present. Marlene was truly an angel on earth and I feel blessed to have known her and called her friend. ❤️ I first met her as one of her beautiful Mother Ruby’s champions, when I was given the privaledge of being Ruby’s Homecare nurse. Marlene and I kept in contact over the years and would often meet for a quick coffee when she was in town visiting Keith. We reconnected again as Keith’s health failed. I will miss our “catch ups ” on Facebook and our many discussions of our various travels. Marlene was a beautiful soul and I will miss her dearly. I am happy to think that she was greeted at Heaven’s gate by Ruby and Keith and that she will lovingly watch over her family below until you all meet again. God Bless

Paul, Jason and Jodi: It comes as a shock to me to hear that Marlene has passed away. She was a wonderful person with a big heart and I will always remember her for her kind words, her laughter, and someone you could count on when you may have needed help on our many Ringette projects we worked on over the years. She was a wonderful mentor for myself as a new parent in the Ringette world many years ago and took me under her wings which I will be always grateful for. My thoughts and prayers are with all her family at this time. May God Bless Her!

Dear Paul,
Hope you remember me from your days in BP. Very sorry to hear about the sad demise of your beloved wife Marlene. May Almighty God’s blessings be upon her soul. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Surely, she is in a better place.
God bless you and keep you in good health.
Oh what fun is being had in heaven with Marlene in their midst. I will always think of her and smile; her quick humor mixed with ready friendship was a joyful combination. My prayers are with all of Marlene’s family as you work through your grief and I know your memories will bring back light in your lives; just as Marlene would want.
Our friendship goes back many years, starting as co-workers at Western Co-op Fertilizer plant and then as an Inspection Team for AMOCO/BP. Our friendship and memories grew with all the fun filled times we had at our Inspection conferences in Banff, Houston, Galveston. Whenever the wives returned from their afternoon escapades they always had some fun filled stories to tell thanks to Marlene. We feel blessed that we had the opportunity to share these wonderful fun filled memories with Marlene and Paul. It brings tears to our eyes to know how this loss brings such emptiness and sorrow to you and your family (especially your two grandsons who are in the midst of trying to figure out what has happened). Please don’t try to bear this heart wrenching loss by yourself, you have our phone numbers, give us a call when you are back in the Hat. Please accept our deepest heartfelt sympathy and prayers and may the good Lord share his strength and goodness with you and your family in your time of need.
Though we have not crossed paths in a few years Marlene was a pleasure and joy to travel with to the many ringette road trips we were on. She had a delightful sense of humour and her love of family was always evident. She will be missed.
Dear Jensen family,
