HOGARTH, Harvey
August 8, 1936 – December 29, 2020
Harvey “Harv” Hogarth passed away on December 29, 2020 at AgeCare Skypointe Hospice in Calgary at the age of 84 years.
Harv was born to parents, Violet and Harvey Hogarth on August 8, 1936 in Cochrane Alberta. Harv lived his whole life in Cochrane and was very much part of the fabric that made up this community. He owned and operated Hogarth Transport after his father passed away. It was during this time that he married and started a family.
He loved sports and was an excellent hockey player. Unfortunately, his hockey career was sidelined by an eye injury. Harv continued to be involved in sports as a player and a coach. He achieved great success in sports including an 8 ender in curling, and a hole in one in golf. Harv passed on his love and knowledge of sports to the future generations in his family.
Harv had many friends he enjoyed a beer and a chat with at the Texas Gate aka “The Office” before heading to his apartment “The Penthouse” to watch his beloved Montreal Canadiens, curling, or a good cop show.
Harv is survived by his children, Harvey “Chub” (Teresa) Hogarth, and Deanna “Dede” (Troy) Sylvestre; grandchildren, Tallon (Anika), Caitlin (Mike), Dominique (Mitch), and Tristin; 6 great-grandchildren, Alyse, Aurora, Ainslie, Mitchell, Micheal, and Leland; brothers, Bob and John; and sister, Louise. Harv was predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Violet Hogarth.
Harv will be missed by all of his friends and family.
Due to Covid restrictions a Celebration of Harvey’s Life will take place at a later date.
Memorial Donations may be made to Cochrane Minor Hockey, Cochrane Minor Baseball, or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Sadden to hear of Harvey’s passing, I first met Harv at the old Gate and yes it was his office, when he showed up I would say the Godfather has arrived. Learnt quite a bit about Cochrane from chatting with Harvey. Molsen Canadian, Montreal Canadians and Blue Jays are something’s that go with Harv and he was well liked, i don’t think he had to buy a beer for a week after his birthday,it was on ice at the office.
