HEPBURN, Jack

November 12, 1957 – June 20, 2020
It is with much sadness, but with so much loving memories that we share the news of Jack’s passing. Jack is survived by his loving wife Janice, of 23 years, brother Don (Arlene), Janice’s son Dustin and “Poppa Jacks” favorite grandson Lochlan, as well as many extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents William and Doris and older brother Lt. Stuart Hepburn.
Jack was born and raised in Yorkton Saskatchewan and attended the University of Saskatchewan (BSc. Geo). He spent over 30 years as a successful geologist working in the Western Canadian oil patch.
Hockey was his passion and always looked forward to his weekly game with friends. He enjoyed a round of sporting clays at Silver Willow where he served as a guide. Jack loved the outdoors, especially Fall. He would spend many hours with his black lab, Kwatali, pheasant hunting. Jack was an ongoing supporter of Janice and together they shared the love of horses, raising foals and Reining competitions. True to his Scottish heritage, he enjoyed a wee dram of good scotch with friends.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to Cochrane Country Funeral Home, Florence (Flo) Simpson, Funeral Director. Ph: 403-932-1039.

Janice, Dustin & Lochlan, there are no words to express adequately our sincere condolences. Jack was a very good man; and your lives have been made richer because of him. Take Care of Each Other, and lean on each other as you navigate through this great loss. xoxo
Our sincere condolences on the passing of Jack to Janice, Don and Arlene. He was our next door neighbour for many years and we really enjoyed his company, his rather twisted sense of humour, his love of horses and dogs and rather wicked selections of Bourbons and Scotch! We have lost a great story teller and conversationalist. Jack could keep you entertained for hours with his stories and when he spoke he made sure to include everyone, including kids. He was also quick to acknowledge another’s turn to speak. Gone but never forgotten. Run with Lizzie Jack!
If there is anything we can do to help at this time, please let us know. Lots of virtual hugs!!

Janice and family I am so shocked to hear of Jacks passing. I had the good fortune of bumping into him a few months ago and had a great chat about the family and horses. It was a nice refresher on what a nice and friendly guy Jack was. Clay and I send our sympathy on your huge loss.

I guided with Jack at SW andalways enjoyed an encounter with another Jack! A great gentleman and I’m so sorry for your loss.
Hello Janice & family. You likely won’t remember me. Jack stood up for me at our wedding in 1981. We were high school buddies and tended to hang around with the same crew. My wife Barb & I crashed your wedding at that beautiful little country church. Life took Jack and I on separate paths, and I believe we only got together one other time after he moved to Cochrane. I always felt badly that we lost touch with each other. The news of Jacks passing comes as quite a shock. Any details that you care to share would be welcomed. Thinking of you at this difficult time.
