FERGUSON, Gloria May (nee Dunn)

March 24, 1955 – April 8, 2015

Gloria May Ferguson passed away in Cochrane on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at home with her husband Doug, sister Pat and family by her side.
She grew up in Edmonton and spent numerous summers at her grandparent’s farm; she loved feeding the animals and sitting with her grandma.
After moving from Edmonton, Swan Hills and Valleyview, Doug and Gloria have called Cochrane home for the last 30 years. She worked at IDA and Rexall for 15 years until she retired with her husband 5 years ago.
Family, friends, and animals were Gloria’s true passion. Gloria treasured her grandchildren and valued having family over on the weekends when she would prepare an outstanding dinner for everyone.
Gloria loved Hawaii; once there, she would always be walking the sandy beaches, watching whales, snorkeling, feeding the birds, parasailing or simply enjoying all the beauty that Hawaii had to offer. She also loved their lake lot at Buck Lake, and spent numerous summers enjoying the sun, fishing, and being with loved ones at family get-togethers.
Gloria will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 40 years, Doug; her two children, Jason (Jody) and Ryan (Jen); her 7 grandchildren, Alek, Justin, Brooklyn, Parker, Dylan, Carmen, and Austin; her stepfather, Ray; three siblings, Terry, Patricia and Ken; four step siblings, George, Linda, Karen and Ronald, as well as numerous extended family, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her father, Victor, and mother, Dorothy.
A Celebration of Gloria’s Life will be held at the Cochrane RancheHouse,
(101 RancheHouse Road, Cochrane, AB) on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 2:30 P.M. We ask that the attire be fun, bright and casual to match Gloria’s personality.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gloria’s memory may be made to the Cochrane Humane Society, 62 Griffin Industrial Pt., Cochrane AB T4C 0A3 www.cochranehumane.ca

Mom/Nana you were an amazing woman. Truly one of the sweetest and most beautiful ladies ever. Not only were you kind and gentle but caring and funny! It is hard to believe that you are no longer with us. You left an impression on everyone that had the honor of meeting you! Although we wish every day that you were still with us in person, we know that you are in a better place watching down on all of us.

Don’t you worry, we will all look out for Dad/Papa!! He has lots of grandkids to keep him busy!!

We love you so much pretty girl!

    Doug and family,
my heart is broken for you and your family at the loss of your wife, mom, and grandma. May every special and fun memory you have of time spent together be the treasure you hold on to and remember each day. My life has been blessed by meeting and getting to know Gloria while she wintered here in Arizona with Doug. Her smile penetrated into my heart, her gentle spirit spoke love with every word, and her life was a living testimony of her love for her family. She will be missed immensely!

I would like to thank everyone for their condolences to me, my dad, brother and our families and for all of those people that came to celebrate my mom’s life. She was a special person and loved by many, as was seen from the crowd. It was an outstanding celebration with speeches that were truly unforgettable.

Thanks Jody, Jen, uncle Ken (with auntie Cheryl and Kristy by his side),uncle Ted, Mackenzie, Brooklyn, Carmen, Jason and Derek for being so brave and getting up and speaking in front of everyone!

Second, I would like to thank my auntie Pat (aka nurse Betty) and my dad, Doug (nurse Ratchet). To the bitter end they granted my mom her wish of passing away in peace at home. I am truly grateful for this and I know mom is as well.

My mom was a kind, gentle soul and an overall amazing person with a great personality and sense of humour. She was beautiful in and out. While going through the pictures of her for the video tribute and collages; I would just stop and be amazed at just how gorgeous she was! I have a cute toddler picture of my mom as the wallpaper on my phone. She loved family, friends and animals (especially her cocker spaniel, Spencer) and loved spending time with each.

She was a quiet person. Soft-spoken, so much so, that at times I couldn’t tell she was speaking to me. She once turned around while I was driving with my dad and her and she was like…”so”. I replied,…”so”. She says “I’ve been speaking to you”. I said “you have”? My dad, sitting right next to her, chimes in… “You have?” Yep that was common. She was quiet. But I wouldn’t have wanted her any other way.

With her passing a little bit of me died along with her. I hope that her journey is continuing and that instead of saying good bye it is more like I’ll catch you on the other side. Mom, please say hi to grandma, grandpa Victor, Spencer and our other loved ones that have passed away for me!

I love you mom and I hope we see each other again. You were and will always mean the world to me! You were an amazing mom and I will forever cherish my time with you and the memories that we shared! New York certainly holds a precious piece of my heart. I am thrilled that I could experience the amazing city with you!!

    I miss you so much!!

    Love Ryan xoxoxo
