DEAN, Velmer James “Joe”

July 4, 1924 – January 16, 2017

Joe Dean passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the age of 92. He is survived by his daughter Sylvia and her husband Wayne. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy of Regina and his brothers John, Fred, Jesse, and Ronald.

Joe was born in Grassy Lake, Alberta in 1924 and lived there until joining the RCAF during World War II. After serving in the RCAF he settled in Regina. He retired from Canada Post in 1981 after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and RCAF Association.

Sylvia wishes to extend her gratitude to the staff at Carewest Colonel Belcher in Calgary for the support and compassionate care Joe received over the past six years. At Joe’s request no funeral services will be held.

    Sylvia, I am so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. Although I have only known your father for barely five years, since my father moved into the Col. Belcher, I found him to be a delightful person, always proud of coming from Grassi Lakes. Our deepest sympathy to you, from the Hallett family.
