COOL, Isabelle Selina
October 12, 1927 – April 7, 2021
Isabelle Selina Cool was born in Calgary on October 12, 1927 and passed away on April 7, 2021 in her beloved hometown.
Isabelle was blessed with a full and wonderful life that was filled with love. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Leonard. Len and Belle shared a home together in the Banff Trail area that allowed them to have an active social life with family, neighbours and many close friends. They had many adventures together and were able to travel the world always making new acquaintances along the way.
Isabelle was a loving and caring mother to her daughter Susan and was always supportive of her endeavours. She was a terrific mother-in-law to Sue’s husband Chris (Daniel) and readily adopted the entire Daniel clan as part of her own family. The two bright lights of her life were her grandsons, Christian and Stefan. She loved them so much and was extremely proud of her two boys, and would love to tell others about their accomplishments (because Grandmas are allowed to do that!).
Isabelle is also survived by her younger sister Yvonne (Hodak) and her three special nieces, Cindy (Pirt), Cathy (Hodak-Andersen) and Cheryl (Madden), as well as her brothers-in-law, David (Cool) and Keith (Parnell) and their respective families. Isabelle was blessed to have a lifelong friend in Connie Brooks. Belle and Connie walked many miles along the pathways of the Bow River and spent every Stampede together.
The last year of Mom’s life was difficult but it was made easier by the support and love that she received from the caring staff and Dr. Catherine McKenna at the Bow-Crest Long Term Care Home.
We will miss her dearly but we have so many wonderful memories of her which we will carry with us always.

Len and Susan. So sad to hear of Isabelle’s passing. We think of you often and sorry that we have not kept in touch. We occasionally saw Isabelle at London Drugs and have missed not seeing her for the last few years. Alan would love to chat with you and get caught up, remembering the “good old days”. Our sincere condolences to the family.

To Leonard, Sue, Chris and family,
We send our deepest sympathy and condolences over the passing of your wife, mother, grandma and our mom’s dearest friend.
Our mom truly cherishes all the walking, talking and Stampeding her and Belle did over the years. We lovingly referred to them both as “Stampede Queens” and we were so glad Isabelle shared our mom’s passion for walking, the Stampede and a little time in the casino. Many wonderful adventures and memories were created during their lifelong friendship, and mom will miss Belle, but always hold the memories close.
Rest in peace, Isabelle… our thoughts are with all of you.

Susan,
I was sad to read about the recent passing of your mother. I lost my father suddenly last month so sending my condolences to you and your family. It’s been years since I last saw you at Banff Trail Elementary before we moved away so not sure if you remember me. Regardless I wanted to take a second and reach out. I hope you focus on all of the wonderful years and memories you had with your mom – it seems like you and your family had a wonderful life with her. Take care…
