COLLIN, William “Bill” Allison
April 11, 1937 – May 20, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of William (Bill) Collin announce his passing on May 20, 2022, in Calgary, AB at the age of 85 years. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. Bill was never daunted by any task he was faced with and thrived on finding solutions and lending a helping hand, whether that was with a phone call, the work of his hands or a hug. He was faced with the biggest challenge of his life when diagnosed with lymphoma but was determined he was going to live at least another 15 years and was doing a fantastic job of “beating cancer” to the wonder of his doctors. Unfortunately, he fell ill and was needed as an angel in heaven rather than our angel here on earth. He will always be with us whether in our memories and lifelong values he instilled or guiding us from heaven.
Bill was born April 11, 1937, at home in Edson, the 7th child of George and Josephine Collin. He is pre-deceased by brothers, McGuire (Mac), George, Merton (Slim), Lloyd as well as sisters Marion and Elaine. Bill is survived by his wife, Glenda and their 5 children: Carrie (Randy), Dave (Christina), Tricia, Jeff (Jody) and Sheila (Dave) as well as 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bill was known as a pied piper of children and animals, his gentle spirit attracting and soothing everyone around him. He was a favourite uncle to his many nieces and nephews spending quality time with them and creating lifelong memories. If your baby/child would not eat just let them sit on Papa’s lap and they would soon be eating. He was also known as a jack-of-all-trades. There was rarely anything he put his hand to that he was unable to fix or repair. He started life out working in his brother’s grocery store, he operated a vacuum truck, has worked for an oil company, a sulphur plant and a company that painted airplanes finally finding his niche as a business owner/operator. He was a very resourceful man always thinking how to make something work or work better. He always encouraged his loved ones to be whatever they wanted to be no matter how big or small the dreams. He despised cruelty and was a true caretaker of people and animals and will be missed every day by many.

I loved just sitting around with him talking about this and that, Bill was an incredible man and I will Truly miss him, my heart and condolences go to the Collin family, very sad we lost a wonderful man but on the bright side heaven has received a extraordinary angel.
My heartfelt condolences to Auntie Glenda and my cousins on the loss of Uncle Bill. He was a special man and I will always remember him with love.
I was lucky enough to work for Bill in Whitecourt for 10 years. He was a kind
(sometimes too kind) man who often did random acts of anonymous kindness.
One of my favourite memories is when he opened all his van doors outside of the
ship and blared Neil Diamond from the speakers. He sure liked Neil Diamond.
He accepted all family members as is and played a special role for each of us. My heart goes out to Auntie Glenda and his sons and daughters.
Words can not express and take away the pain. My deepest condolences to Glenda and family..Bill was an amazing person inside and out. He was so gentle. Such a beautiful soul. Bill is now with the Angels and has Earned his wing..
Rest In Peace Bill you deserve it.
Uncle Bill As he was to me. He made even preparing his lunches
for the week fun. As he had us nephews help out. A longer but
harder task, filled with quick antidotes of fun. Then on to cool
things like making marbles, from scratch. Then he made each of
Us feel like we were his favorite. Even at work he thought of
The little things that would make my day. When he had a delivery
To a teacher he knew I liked he would take me along. Even when he
had to wait till I finished my job. Thinking of others, and a
smile was just who he was. Sadly I never kept in touch and never
Got to really know his family.

And his thoughts of me became negative but I saw he was still jubble,
kind, and thoughtful of others. So I knew he was just working on what
he had heard . I just wished I could of showed him who I really was,
I too, was kind to others, and worked hard, and always did my best.
Knowing he encouraged others to do, and be thier best. He also
accepted them just as they were, but with a little push to do better.
Because he was such a good role model, I am sad fate kept me from being
The success I should of been.
My Condolences to Glenda and the Collin Family.
Its been my observation over the years that My Great Uncle Bill was industrious and ingenuitive with an entrepreneurial spirit just like most of the other men in the Collin family and not just his generation either as these attributes were passed on to the next generation. One of them being my Dad- Ken. I remember as a child listening to stories of all the Collin Men and their many talents and seeing this play out in the next 2 generations.
Grandpa Mac with his store and painting business for one. Grandpa Mac passed on his entrepreneurial spirit to Uncle Bill.
Uncle Bill worked hard to take care of his family and business. He was a good father and husband; a real family man. Take a moment for celebration of the life and great spirit who was Bill Collin. On a spiritual and metaphysical note; Bill was not just a body. Hes a real sentient being.
If you talk to him, he will get your message. May his existence carry on in the heavenly realms and may he be enfolded in Divine Love and Light. Until we meet again Uncle Bill.
Rest now Bill , You were always so busy . You always had a smile and a great greeting to all you met. My Thoughts and Prayers go out to Glenda, Carrie and the rest of his Loving Family .
To Glenda and families,
It is with heartfelt sadness we learned of Bills passing. May happy shared memories ease your sorrow and bring you comfort during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rest in peace Bill.
With our deepest sympathies,
Don & Colleen Reid.
