BROWN, Logan Robert
December 5, 1915 – September 29, 2011

Logan passed away peacefully, on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Chilliwack General Hospital, Chilliwack, British Columbia at the age of 95 after a brief illness.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Ronald and Janet, wife Florence, brother Ronald, and nephew Philip.

He will be sadly missed by his son Bob (Joanne), granddaughter Susan, grandsons Mike and David, nephew Ron (Bonnie), as well as a circle of other relatives and friends.

Logan was born in Calgary, the son of Janet and Ronald Brown.

He worked at a variety of jobs, until joining the Calgary Fire Department on May 1, 1944. An active firefighter for several years, he was also a strong advocate of fire prevention and became one of the first members of the newly-formed Fire Prevention Bureau in 1951. He was also involved in the operation of the original Calgary Firefighters Savings and Credit Union. After many years of building inspection and arson investigation Logan retired as Assistant Fire Marshal on January 1, 1976.

His retirement years included travel, golfing and curling, reading, and regaling his grandchildren with his stories.

A celebration of life will be held at Leyden’s Chapel of Remembrance, 304 18th Avenue S.W., Calgary on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
